XI'AN, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Kyren Wilson defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan 6-4 in the semifinals of the World Snooker Xi'an Grand Prix, setting up a final against Judd Trump, who beat Daniel Wells.
When facing O'Sullivan, Wilson won the first two frames. O'Sullivan pulled one back in the third, but the world No. 3 bagged frames in a row, taking a 3-1 lead before the break.
O'Sullivan could have narrowed the gap in the fifth frame, but he made a mistake, and saw his rival run away.
The Rocket kept his chance of advancing alive with a break of 87 in the seventh frame and turning the eighth frame around.
In the ninth frame, the 48-year-old made an outstanding shot in the decider period, cutting the deficit to one.
However, Wilson notched a break of 102 in the tenth frame, settling the contest in his favor.
"I don't think I did a lot wrong from 5-1. I think Ronnie played well, parts of good long balls,"said Wilson.
"When he (Ronnie) flew the black, that hurt, but I just knew I had to remain positive, and I managed to do that in the last frame," Wilson added.
In the other semifinal, Trump thrashed Wells 6-1 to continue his unbeaten record so far in the 2024-2025 season. Enditem
