HONG KONG, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Breakdancing, singing, alternative sports playing and unexpected talent shows ... A star-studded gala show attended by a delegation of visiting Chinese mainland Olympians was staged on Friday night at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

As a highlight to the three-day visit, the much-anticipated sports feast unfolded at 8:00 p.m., drawing a cheering crowd of more than thousands of Hongkongers -- mostly young people -- who had come early and given a deafening applause and hero's welcome to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games medalists from the Chinese mainland.

Addressing the occasion, John Lee, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, extended his warm welcome to the athletes, saying that this is the seventh time since Hong Kong's return to the motherland that the central government has arranged such a visit, which reflects the central government's care and support for Hong Kong.

The gala featured an exhilarating blend of crossover performances, sports tips sharing, storytelling, singing and dancing in a fun vibe, as passion for sports and love for the country built up among the audience. Enditem
