(FOCAC) Chinese premier meets Zimbabwean president

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday met with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is in Beijing for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and a state visit.

Li said China is willing to work with Zimbabwe to develop bilateral relations from a strategic height and long-term perspective under the guidance of the two heads of state.

China stands ready to strengthen the synergy of development strategies and expand mutually beneficial cooperation to bring more benefits to the people of both countries, he added.

The premier said China is ready to further deepen cooperation with Zimbabwe in areas including agriculture, mining, infrastructure construction and connectivity, and constantly expand cooperation in trade, investment, clean energy and digital economy to foster new bright spots of bilateral cooperation and new sources of economic growth.

Under the frameworks of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the FOCAC, Zimbabwe stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in fields such as economy, trade, agriculture, science, technology, education, women affairs and climate change, Mnangagwa said.

Zimbabwe is also willing to strengthen collaboration with China on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries to achieve greater development from a new starting point, he said. Enditem
