BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

MARS SAMPLE-RETURN MISSION

China plans to carry out the Tianwen-3 mission through two launches around 2028, aiming to bring back samples from Mars, a Chinese space expert said on Thursday.

Liu Jizhong, chief designer of China's Mars sample-return mission, unveiled the details at the 2nd International Deep Space Exploration Conference in Tunxi of Huangshan City in east China's Anhui Province.

The primary scientific goal of the mission will be searching for signs of life. To realize the goal, Chinese space engineers have to tackle key technologies such as collecting samples on the Martian surface, taking off from the Red Planet, rendezvous on the orbit around Mars, as well as planetary protection, Liu explained.

INTERNATIONAL LUNAR RESEARCH STATION

China's ambitious initiative to launch an international lunar research station has gained new global cooperation partners.

During the opening ceremony of a two-day space conference held in Tunxi, east China's Anhui Province on Thursday, the China National Space Administration and its counterpart in Senegal signed an agreement on International Lunar Research Station cooperation.

At the conference, China's Deep Space Exploration Lab inked memoranda of understanding with 10 institutions from countries including Serbia, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Panama and South Africa.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The 13th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference will take place from Sept. 13 to 14 in Beijing, offering a platform for global innovation exchange and cooperation, the event's organizer said on Wednesday.

Themed "Intellectual Property Empowering New Quality Productive Forces," this year's conference will invite 150 guests from home and abroad to deliver speeches, said Liu Chao, head of the Intellectual Property Publishing House, at a press conference.

Liu highlighted an increase in participation from enterprises in patent-intensive industries, such as new energy, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, the Internet of Things, and those from emerging sectors, new business forms and models. Enditem
