BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.28 percent to 2,744.19 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.13 percent higher at 8,073.83 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 527.65 billion yuan (about 74.17 billion U.S. dollars), up from 518.64 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Shares related to combustible ice led the gains, while tourism, hotel, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.06 percent to close at 1,539.98 points Tuesday. Enditem
