BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

AIRSHIP

China's independently-developed AS700 civil manned airship has made a successful maiden ferry flight in central China's Hubei Province, and the first air vehicle is scheduled to be delivered by the end of this year.

During the flight, the airship took off from Jingmen Zhanghe Airport and landed at an airport in Jingzhou after a flight lasting one hour and 46 minutes, according to the developer, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

MICROSCOPE

A team of Chinese scientists crafted a super intravital microscope that is capable of seeing clearly the entire three-dimensional (3D) interactions of a large-scale cell's network at the mammalian organ level.

The instrument, developed by Tsinghua University, is designed to enhance innovative research in oncology, immunology and neuroscience, in order to provide a systemic understanding on how organs are organized and functioning at the single cell resolution.

This microscope called the RUSH3D system offers a centimeter-scale field of view and subcellular resolution. It is capable of high-speed 3D imaging at a rate of 20 frames per second, while also enabling continuous observation for dozens of hours with low toxicity, according to the study published on Friday in the journal Cell.

EV TARIFFS

The U.S. administration on Friday finalized sharp tariff hikes on some Chinese imports, including a 100 percent duty on electric vehicles (EVs), drawing harsh criticism from industrial insiders and experts.

Kuang Xianming, deputy head of the China Institute for Reform and Development, warned that the U.S. decision could backfire, saying that besides harming its trading partners, the imposition of tariffs is also unfavorable to relevant industries within the United States, and disrupts global economic and trade rules as well as the overall global economic order.
