GUIYANG, China, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- The 2024 International High Bridge Extreme Sports Invitational Tournament kicked off on Saturday in Liupanshui City, southwest China's Guizhou Province.

The tournament attracts 30 extreme sports enthusiasts from 18 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany and Australia.

The event will be held on the Beipanjiang Bridge this weekend and on the Baling River Bridge on September 24th, according to the organizers.

Sitting over 565 meters above a valley, equivalent to the height of a 200-storey building, Beipanjiang Bridge has been certified as the world's highest by Guinness World Records.

It's the first time Tracey-Smith Cameron, an Australian BASE jumper, has visited China. "I like to jump all over the world, meet new people, and experience new cultures. It's a great opportunity to combine meeting China and Chinese people with the sport that I love," said Cameron.

More than 30,000 bridges have been built or are under construction in Guizhou, and nearly half of the top 100 high Bridges in the world are located here.

Based on its unique bridge resources, Guizhou has organized international outdoor sports events on high bridges, such as skydiving and paragliding, promoting the in-depth integration of bridges, sports and tourism. Enditem
