HONG KONG, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) on Monday implemented a new arrangement that allows the Hong Kong stock market to operate despite severe weather.

Under the new arrangement, when typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is issued in Hong Kong, investors can still trade Hong Kong stocks and derivatives as usual. They can also trade A-shares through the Shanghai-Hong Kong and Shenzhen-Hong Kong stock connects.

Wilfred Yiu, deputy CEO of the HKEX, said that as an international financial center, Hong Kong has the responsibility to serve investors in different time zones, so as to avoid the inconvenience and additional risks brought by trading shutdown to investors. Enditem
