SHANGHAI, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- World No. 1 Jannik Sinner advanced into the fourth round of the ATP Shanghai Masters on Sunday with a comeback 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2 victory over Argentina's Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Etcheverry managed to take the lead in the opening set as he converted the set point in the tiebreak that he brought up with a powerful drop volley.

The top seed remained calm under pressure in the second set. Both players gifted each other a break in the fifth and sixth games, but the Italian ultimately seized the opportunity to level the match.

Sinner found his momentum back in the decider by breaking his rival's serve in the third game. With the advantage, the 23-year-old added another break in the sixth game to lock his win.

"It was a very tough match, physically and mentally, so I am very happy to get through this one," said Sinner, adding that being patient was the key to success.

Elsewhere, Carlos Alcaraz, the world No. 2 who had beaten Sinner at the China Open earlier this week, also secured his spot in the fourth round after easing past China's wildcard player Wu Yibing with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win.

Alcaraz spoke highly of Wu as the Chinese opened up with a point against him. "He did not let me play as aggressively as I was used to playing in the last couple of weeks. I had to put myself into the rally as long as I could," said Alcaraz.

Also on Sunday, fifth-ranked Daniil Medvedev caught up from behind for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Matteo Arnaldi to squeeze into the fourth round. Enditem
