HONG KONG, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesia Week Hong Kong 2024 hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong opened on Friday, with a forum on the outlook of business and investment ties between China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Indonesia.

Expanding relations with Indonesia and countries of Southeast Asia is a priority of the HKSAR government, HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee said while addressing the Trade, Tourism and Investment Seminar and Business Forum of Indonesia.

"Initiatives that benefit our Indonesian communities, and those of the other nine countries of ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations), continue to highlight our agenda, as my Policy Address made clear," he said.

"I look forward to Hong Kong's early accession to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. I'm confident that it's one of the best means of expanding and enriching business and investment opportunities between our two economies, and economies throughout the region," Lee said.

Indonesia and China have been comprehensive strategic partners since 2013, said Djauhari Oratmangun, Indonesia's ambassador to China. Many potentials remain open to investors from the HKSAR, especially considering Indonesia as an entry point for Southeast Asia, he said.

"Indonesia has long considered Hong Kong as our valued partner in trade, investment and finance," said Consul-General of Indonesia to Hong Kong Yul Edison.

The three-day event will showcase Indonesia's rich cultural heritage and economic development, he said. It will also promote cultural exchanges between the two sides through a variety of performances, workshops and exhibitions. Enditem
