1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Monday

BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.51 percent to 3,470.07 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.03 percent higher at 11,388.57 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 2.51 trillion yuan (about 349.3 billion U.S. dollars), down from 2.68 trillion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.

Shares related to semiconductors led the gains, while those in the banking and coal sectors suffered major losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.05 percent to close at 2,392.44 points on Monday. Enditem
