BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

SUCCESSFUL DOCKING

The cargo craft Tianzhou-8 has successfully docked with the orbiting Tiangong space station on Saturday, the China Manned Space Agency announced.

At 2:32 a.m. (Beijing Time), Tianzhou-8 docked at the rear docking port of Tianhe, the core module of Tiangong space station, after completing its status setting, according to the agency.

SWEET TOMATOES

A Chinese team has found a way to genetically release the tomato's sugar brake without sacrificing yield. This exciting development means that sweeter and juicier tomatoes may soon be making a comeback in supermarkets.

The researchers from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences conducted taste tests on over 100 varieties of tomatoes and identified 33 flavor compounds that affect consumer preferences.

LOW-COST SYSTEM

China is advancing a cost-effective cargo transport system for its space station, with new joint optimization achievements for the cargo spacecraft and the rocket, according to sources at the ongoing Airshow China.
