BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- China will find it very difficult to score against Japan in Tuesday's upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier, former China captain Fan Zhiyi said.
"Technically speaking, we cannot hold a candle to Japan. To be honest, there is a gap between the two teams," Fan said.
"It will be very hard for China to score. It boils down to capability, which our players are lacking in."
"Moreover, our team is hit by injuries, and some inexperienced players have been called up as replacements," he said.
Fan suggested that China should prioritize defence over attack against a team like Japan.
"Japan is a world-class team in terms of ball passing and possession. I believe a more effective approach for China is to defend well, and in a more organized way," he said. Enditem
