Chinese Culture Festival sees brisk attendance in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese Culture Festival concluded on Friday in Hong Kong, with attendance at online and offline activities totaling around 900,000, local data showed.

Over 250 shows and activities had been staged during the festival since it opened in June, involving more than 4,000 performers, according to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.

To showcase Chinese culture and arts, more than 20 events were open to the public free of charge, including musical, dance and theater performances as well as movie screenings, according to the department.

Shanghai was named the focus city of this year's festival. The Shanghai Jingju (Peking opera) Theatre Company and the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra were invited to perform in Hong Kong during the festival. Enditem
