BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.05 percent to 3,402.53 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.55 percent lower at 10,731.66 points.
The combined turnover covered by the two indices stood at 1.63 trillion yuan (about 226.8 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.79 trillion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Shares in the sectors of ceramics, oil and home appliances led the gains, while those related to the property and aircraft manufacturing sectors saw significant declines.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.81 percent to close at 2,248.63 points Monday. Enditem
