State Council to supervise probes into construction site collapse in south China

BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Work Safety Commission under China's State Council has decided to supervise the investigation into a ground collapse at a railway construction site in the country's southern metropolis of Shenzhen, the Ministry of Emergency Management said on Wednesday.

The accident occurred on Dec. 4 at a section of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, leaving 13 people working at the site missing.

The Work Safety Commission has asked the Guangdong authorities to promptly carry out an investigation into the cause of the accident, submit the investigation report to it for approval, and then release the result to the public.

So far, the 13 people have remained unaccounted for, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management. Enditem
