BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.36 percent to 3,370.03 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.61 percent higher at 10,649.03 points.

The combined turnover covered by the two indices stood at 1.44 trillion yuan (about 200 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.36 trillion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.

Shares in the sectors of internet services, power supply devices and telecommunication services led the gains, while those related to commercial department stores, petrol and coal saw significant declines.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.52 percent to close at 2,213.54 points Thursday. Enditem
