SHANGHAI, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The No. 11 metro line of Shanghai, which suffered track damage on Sunday morning due to a falling crane from an external construction site, partially resumed operations around 9:30 p.m., according to local authorities.

Following intensive repairs, service has initially resumed in the direction from Chenxiang Highway Station to Disney Resort Station, the Shanghai Metro said.

The accident happened at about 8 a.m. when a crawler crane collapsed onto the tracks of the metro line. Passengers in the train were soon evacuated, with no casualties reported.

A work team has been dispatched to the city to guide local authorities in handling the accident, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management. The cause of the accident is being investigated. Enditem
