BEIJING, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.01 percent to 3,393.35 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.64 percent lower at 10,603.1 points.
The combined turnover covered by the two indices stood at nearly 1.3 trillion yuan (about 180.89 billion U.S. dollars), roughly at the same level as the previous trading day.
Shares in the motorbike sector led the gains, while those related to the papermaking industry saw major declines.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.55 percent to close at 2,201.3 points on Wednesday. Enditem
