BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese procuratorates indicted over 67,000 individuals for telecom and cyber fraud from January to November 2024, up 58.5 percent year on year, according to a national chief prosecutors' meeting on Monday.

A total of 9,867 people involved in organized crime and 1,136 people who engaged in the abduction or trafficking of women and children were indicted during the period, as part of procuratorates' efforts to handle crimes of particular concern to the people.

A tough stance against severe, violent crime was taken last year, with 55,000 people involved in such crimes indicted by procuratorates over the 11-month period.

Stronger action was also taken against corruption, with more than 28,000 individuals suspected of duty-related crimes transferred from supervision commissions and handled during the period, up 37.9 percent from the same period of 2023. A total of 22,000 of those individuals had been indicted.

Procuratorates nationwide also indicted 2,772 people for offering bribes, a 20.2 percent year-on-year increase, aiming to ensure both offering and accepting bribes are punished, according to the meeting. Enditem
