Yasen Petrov leaves Qingdao Hainiu as head coach

BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinse Super League (CSL) club Qingdao Hainiu announced on Friday that Yasen Petrov has stopped working as its head coach after one year in charge.

"Yasen Petrov no longer serves as the head coach of Qingdao Hainiu's first team," the Qingdao club said in a statement.

Under the Bulgarian's guidance, Qingdao Hainiu finished 12th in the 16-team CSL last season with eight wins, five draws and 17 losses.

Li Xiaopeng, the former head coach of the Chinese men's national team, has been chosen as Petrov's replacement. He is now with the Qingdao team at a preseason training camp.

Qingdao Hainiu is expected to announce his appointment soon. Enditem
