BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Wu Lei is set to miss China's next two FIFA World Cup qualifiers after he received a knee operation.
The top scorer of the Chinese Super League last season went under the knife on Thursday to deal with a right knee injury.
According to a statement released by his club Shanghai Port, Wu's operation has been a success, and he needs eight to ten weeks to recover.
The layoff means Wu will be ruled out of the Chinese team's next two World Cup qualifiers in March -- one against Saudi Arabia and the other one against Australia. Enditem
