CBA review: Beijing beats Fujian, Guangdong crushes Guangzhou

JINAN, China, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Ducks won at the Fujian Sturgeons 128-94 in the 35th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League.

Before the game, Fujian stood bottom of the league, having taken only five wins. After the first half of Friday's game, Fujian led Beijing by three points with a 52.4 percent 3-pointer shooting rate.

The turning point of the game came in the third quarter. Zeng Fanbo took two 3-pointers and a wonderful alley-oop with his teammates. Beijing scored 39 points in the quarter, while Fujian took only 15 with a lowered shooting rate.

Fujian failed to come back in the fourth quarter, and Beijing won with the most points scored in a single game this season.

Zhou Qi scored a team-high 31 points with one assist and nine rebounds for Beijing, while Zeng added 28 points with seven assists and 10 rebounds.

Also on Friday, the Guangdong Southern Tigers defeated the Guangzhou Loong Lions 111-82 to rise to third in the league. Thanks to some excellent teamwork, Guangdong dominated from beginning to end, scoring more than Guangzhou in each quarter,.

On Saturday, the Liaoning Flying Leopards ended a two-game losing streak 124-106 and condemned the Ningbo Rockets to their 11th straight defeat, the Shandong Heroes nosed out the Beijing Royal Fighters 104-103, and the Qingdao Eagles beat the Jilin Northeast Tigers 107-94.

Also on Saturday, the Shanghai Sharks crushed the Nanjing Monkey Kings 112-89, the Shenzhen Aviators prevailed over the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 118-109, the Zhejiang Lions triumphed 104-99 in the derby with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls, The Shanxi Loongs tamed the Jiangsu Dragons 113-92, and the Tianjin Pioneers defeated the Sichuan Blue Whales 97-84.
