BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Super League (CSL) club Shanghai Shenhua announced on Monday that its midfielder Dai Weijun will be sidelined for around nine months after he picked up a serious left knee injury in a warm-up game.
According to a statement issued by the Shanghai club, Dai was carried off midway through the game on Sunday after suffering the injury, which was later diagnosed as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.
"The club medical staff are trying to contact the hospital for the player to take an ACL operation," the Shanghai club said in the statement.
The statement added that the 25-year-old player is expected to recover in nine months, which means he will miss most of the Shanghai club's 2025 campaign. Enditem
