BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Ghanaian striker Abudul-Aziz Yakubu looks set to join Chinese Super League (CSL) club Qingdao West Coast after taking part in a friendly match wearing the team's colors on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old wore the No. 9 shirt in a game against Russian side FC Ural Yekaterinburg, which ended in a scoreless draw before Qingdao eventually prevailed on penalties.
According to a Wednesday report from Qingdao Daily, the club's general manager, Shen Jun, confirmed Yakubu's signing awaiting an official announcement.
Yakubu is no stranger to Chinese football, having recorded 15 goals and one assist for Wuhan Three Towns in the 2023 season.
Currently holding a training camp in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, Qingdao West Coast will face cross-city rival Qingdao Hainiu in its CSL opener on Feb. 23. Enditem
