1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher on Monday

BEIJING, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.56 percent to 3,322.17 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.52 percent higher at 10,631.25 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices was about 1.73 trillion yuan (241 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.96 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks in the artificial intelligence application and retail sectors led the gains, while those in the banking and photovoltaic sectors underperformed.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.44 percent to close at 2,183.88 points on Monday. Enditem
