JINAN, China, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Qingdao Hainiu and Qingdao West Coast played to a 2-2 draw in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday.
In the derby match, the home side opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Hainiu's Wellington Silva struck a stunning goal from outside the penalty area, sending the ball into the top corner.
Four minutes later, Matheus equalized for West Coast, capitalizing on an opportunity in front of goal. In the 42nd minute, Hainiu regained the lead after midfielder Jia Feifan scored following a fumble by goalkeeper Li Hao.
Matheus netted his second goal in the 69th minute with a header to level the match at 2-2, a scoreline that held until the final whistle.
Elsewhere, Shandong Taishan failed to secure its first home victory against Henan. In the 22nd minute, Shandong goalkeeper Wang Dalei was sent off with a red card, forcing his team to play with 10 men for the remainder of the match. Neither side managed to score, and the game ended in a goalless draw.
Defending champion Shanghai Port had a dream start, as Matheus Jussa found the net in the third minute. Brazilian striker Gustavo then scored twice, helping the home team defeat Shenzhen Peng City 3-1.
