BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.17 percent to 3,381.1 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.77 percent higher at 10,898.75 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.91 trillion yuan (about 266.76 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.49 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Stocks related to gaming and computing power leasing led the gains, while those in construction machinery and steel industries suffered significant losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.02 percent to close at 2,234.69 points Thursday. Enditem
