BUENOS AIRES, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese sharpshooter Tian Jiaming secured a silver medal behind Hungary's Istvan Peni in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions final at the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires on Friday.
It marks China's second medal in the tournament after two days of competition, following Hu Kai's victory in the men's 10m air pistol event on Thursday.
Tian led Peni by 1.8 points after the kneeling position, but the Hungarian narrowed the gap to just 0.1 point during the prone series and ultimately overtook Tian in the standing position. Peni clinched gold with a score of 461.0 points. Tian finished second with 458.8 points, while India's Chain Singh took bronze with 443.7 points.
In the women's 50m rifle 3 positions event, India's Sift Kaur Samra pulled off a dramatic comeback to win her first individual World Cup title. Samra was in last place after the kneeling stage, trailing early leader Anita Mangold of Germany by 7.2 points. Undeterred, the 23-year-old surged ahead with two outstanding standing series to seal victory with 458.6 points.
Mangold had to settle for silver with 455.3 points after two costly 9.0 shots, while Arina Altukhova of Kazakhstan claimed bronze with 445.9 points.
The competition will continue on Saturday, with gold medals up for grabs in men's and women's skeet, as well as the women's 25m pistol event. Enditem
