WASHINGTON, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Lithuania's Olympic runner-up Mykolas Alekna twice improved his own discus world record en route to a 75.56-meter victory at the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invitational in Ramona, the United States, on Sunday.
One year after achieving his first world record of 74.35m at the same event last April, the 22-year-old first beat the mark with a 74.89m throw in the opening round and went on to improve it to 75.56m with his fourth throw, becoming the first man in history to break the 75-meter barrier.
Australia's Matthew Denny, bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics, also managed to surpass the previous world record mark, hurling 74.78m to settle for second place. Sam Mattis of the United States finished third with a personal best of 71.27m. Enditem
