BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.76 percent to 3,262.81 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.51 percent higher at 9,884.30 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.28 trillion yuan (roughly 177.5 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.35 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to the economic potential of south China's Hainan Province and those in e-commerce emerged as the top gainers, while shares connected to the Chinese alcoholic drink baijiu and in non-metallic material sectors were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.34 percent to close at 1,932.91 points on Monday. Enditem
