BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.03 percent to 3,297.29 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.58 percent lower at 9,878.32 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.11 trillion yuan (about 153.96 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.26 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the pet consumption and paper-making sectors led the gains, while those related to computing power and ceramics were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.68 percent to close at 1,935.86 points Thursday. Enditem
