A special job fair held last week in China's southernmost
Hainan Province has provided more than 10,000 vacant jobs to
migrant workers.
The employment fair was sponsored by the provincial employment
bureau, aiming to solve some employment difficulties for this
special group of people.
Ninety-eight companies attended the employment fair, offering
working opportunities in clothing processing and restaurants.
Wang Yingji, head of Hainan provincial personnel and labor
security department, said the province will offer 80,000 jobs to
migrant workers in 2006.
The official said Hainan plans to transfer the majority of rural
surplus labor force into urban areas within three years' time.
Wang added that all the provincial job information centers
willbe open to migrant workers to timely provide them with relevant
information, consultation services and professional training.
