Adjust font size:

A landslide measuring eight kilometers occurred in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Wednesday, leaving no casualties, the local government said on Thursday.

The landslide, which occurred at around 2:00 PM in Nilka County in the Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of Ili, killed and injured more than 300 sheep, damaged some houses and ruined four kilometers of rural roads. The landslide was led by thawing snow.

Exact losses are being calculated.

The county is about 800 kilometers from the regional capital Urumqi.
