The University of Macao held a ceremony here on Saturday to mark its 25th anniversary.

Iu Vai Pan, president of the university, told the ceremony that the university currently boasts 36 bachelor course programs, 32 master and doctoral course programs, a 360-strong faculty and a 5,600-strong student group.

Iu said some 14,000 have graduated from the university in the past 25 years.

The university, the top academic institution in the special administrated region, was founded in 1981 as a private school with merely scores of students on campus.
