The charter flights between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan for
the traditional
Spring Festival, or the Chinese Lunar New Year that falls on
Jan. 29, fulfilled passengers flow peak Friday, one day
before the Spring Festival eve.
Twelve mainland and Taiwan civil aviation companies have flied
34 round-trip flights between mainland's Beijing, Shanghai,
Guangzhou, Xiamen and Taiwan's Taipei and Kaohsiung since the peak
period began on Wednesday.
Thirteen flights were operated on Friday alone, with six taking
off or landing in Shanghai, three in Beijing and Guangzhou each and
one in Xiamen.
Round-trip flights will leave only one flight from Taipei to
Xiamen on Saturday prior to the Spring Festival.
This year's cross-strait Spring Festival charter flights began
on Jan. 20 with a flight with 298 passengers aboard landing in
Shanghai from Taipei. Six airline companies from each side are
scheduled to fly 72 flights between Taiwan and the mainland around
the holiday.
