The First Shanxi Merchants Culture Forum was held at the Shanxi Merchants Museum in Beijing on July 8, drawing hosts of Shanxi Merchant research experts, local officials, representatives of contemporary Shanxi Merchants and many journalists. The forum held an in-depth discussion on how to carry forward and promote the culture of Shanxi Merchants and how to enhance the local enterprises’ image and foster the development of Shanxi Merchants.

During the forum, experts and entrepreneurs attended different seminars and summits. Three scholars and two contemporary merchants aired new ideas and suggestions for local development and economic transition.

Nie Chunyu, director of the Executive Committee of the First World Assembly of Jin Merchants, pointed out that thrift, hard work, credibility and integrity, wise management, and progressiveness were key values of the Shanxi merchants, which provided drive for local development. Nie hoped that the contemporary local merchants could take advantage of the preferable opportunities in order to improve the reputation of local brands, promote traditional culture, enhance the image of the local enterprises, and accelerate the economic transformation.
