11月10日，正在乌鲁木齐客运段紧张训练的“动姐”们首次向媒体露面。据乌鲁木齐铁路局介绍，乌鲁木齐客运段动车队成立于2014年7月1日，队员由汉、维吾尔、回、满和朝鲜等多民族组成，平均年龄23岁，致力于为旅客营造“甜蜜新丝路、瞬间新感受”的乘车体验，打造丝路上的“甜蜜高铁”。兰新高铁（乌鲁木齐南至哈密段）于11月16日开通运营，标志着新疆正式进入高铁时代。动车开通后初期运行时速200公里，乌鲁木齐南到哈密的运行时间由原来的5小时缩短至3小时左右。

Connecting Urumqi and Hami, the 530-kilometer-long section of the Lanzhou-Xinjiang high-speed railway will begin service on Nov 16. It will be the first high-speed service in China's far west. The line is designed to support high-speed trains solely for transporting passengers with a top speed of 250 km/h. At the start, trains will run at 200 km/h. When the new 1,776-km line is in full operation at the end of this year, it will reduce the travel time from Urumqi to Lanzhou, capital of Gansu province, by half - to about nine hours.
