Teenagers dance for their dreams
Editor's note: A new round of art exams has been going on since mid-February across China. Candidates' performance in these exams will serve as a criterion, along with their scores in the national college entrance exam to be held in June, for admission to art schools in various colleges and universities. Competition for entry to the top art schools is fierce. Students seeking an eventual career in performing arts such as drama and dance are focusing on intense training. The following pictures show teenagers attending a 15-day enhanced training class for dance at an international art school in Ru'nan County, Henan Province. The training involves basic skills and designated movements like stretching, bending, splits and rotation that are dull and tedious and last for more than six hours a day without a break. "No pain, no gain" is the motto. It is only with an unyielding will that these youngsters can overcome the difficulties and achieve their dreams.
