Zizhi Tunnel opens to traffic in Zhejiang

编者按：2016年8月10日，在G20杭州峰会召开之前，全国最长的城市隧道群“紫之隧道”在杭州正式投入使用。紫之隧道从紫金港路到之浦路，全长14.4公里，建设规模为双向六车道，主线由三座隧道、两座桥梁组成；主线设计时速60公里/小时，匝道设计时速30公里/小时。紫之隧道工程的建设，将对缓解西湖风景区交通压力，改善周边地块道路环境起到重要作用。隧道通车后，预计从西溪、汽车西站至之江旅游度假区，仅需15分钟左右。

Editor's note: As the G20 Hangzhou Summit is drawing near, the construction of Zizhi Tunnel, a link between Zijingang Road and Zhipu Road in the host city, was completed and opened to traffic on August 10. With a length of 14.4 kilometers, the tunnel is the longest of its kind in China. It actually consists of three tunnels, two bridges and six bidirectional lanes. Traffic congestion around the West Lake, a well-known scenic spot in the area, will greatly be alleviated with the tunnel completed and the road broadened. At a speed of 30-60 kilometers per hour, it takes only 15 minutes to drive through the tunnel.
