Severe drought hits China's Chongqing

 

编者按：连日来，重庆一直持续高温干旱天气，截至8月18日，开州区已经连续6天42.5度的高温，地表气温高达72度，领跑全国。受持久高温干旱天气的影响，原本流量充沛的重庆市忠县马灌镇境内的“回龙河”断流。重庆市气象局已连续多日发布全市范围高温红色预警，并采取相应措施应对这种罕见的极端高温天气。
Editor's note: High temperatures and severe droughts have hit southwest China's Chongqing for a considerably long period of time. Up to August 18, the municipality's Kaizhou District had registered a temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius (with the earth surface temperature reaching 72 degrees Celsius) for six days in a row, ranking the highest in the country. The Huilong River in the area, which used to be plentiful and abundant in water resources, is running dry due to the long dry spell. Local meteorological authorities have issued a red alert and taken corresponding measures in dealing with this rare and extreme weather.
