The Office of China National Postdoctoral Council and Hong Kong Society of scholars signed an agreement in Guangzhou on Dec. 19, 2010 to form a joint training program for post-doctoral researchers between the mainland and Hong Kong.
Under the agreement, from 2011 to 2014, the National Administrative Committee of Post-Doctoral Researchers will select 50 outstanding post-doctoral researchers from the mainland annually, who will visit Hong Kong and carry out cooperative research in prestigious universities. The research period is generally two years.
Each year, the mainland and Hong Kong will give every researcher 150,000 yuan and 150,000 Hong Kong dollars respectively in life and research subsidies.
The areas of expertise of the researchers will focus on basic research, biomedicine, information technology, agriculture, new energy, new materials and advanced manufacturing. The program will be undertaken by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Center.
