The 2018 National Postdoctoral Academic Forum opened in Hengqin New Area of Zhuhai city, Guangdong province on Dec. 13, with the theme of "Internet of Things · Sensing the World".
The forum was organized by the Office of China National Postdoctoral Council, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Hengqin New Area’s postdoctoral affairs administration, State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (University of Macao), and the Zhuhai Da Hengqin Technology Development Co.
The event gathered more than 100 experts in the field of the internet of things, including academicians, corporate management, and postdoctoral researchers, to take part in the discussions on the subjects such as smart cities, Industry 4.0, and AIoT, with the aim to push for close cooperation of industry, academia and research by introducing the intellectual strengths of postdoctoral researchers.
Among the attendees were Fang Binxing, academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Sun Limin, research fellow at the Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the elite of internet industry including from Alibaba, JD.com, Huawei and Tencent.
Li Weihui, deputy secretary of the CPC Hengqin New Area Committee, and Qiu Chunlei, deputy director of the overseas students and experts service center, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and deputy secretary-general of China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, spoke at the event.
The forum has been hosted in Hengqin for three consecutive years as part of a series of postdoctoral activities with the theme of "Wisdom Converges in Hengqin", and have attracted thousands of postdoctoral talents. This year the postdoctoral activities will also include the finals of the 6th Hengqin Cup National Postdoctoral Tennis Tournament and matchmaking opportunities for the 60th cohort of the China Postdoctoral Sci-Tech Service Corps.
