Int'l Sculpture Exhibition to Be Held in Jilin

The 8th China Changchun International Sculpture Exhibition will be held in September 2006 in Changchun City, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, the organizer said Thursday.

"With the theme of friendship, peace and spring, we aim to attract more foreign artists than before," said Yang Shaoqing, director of the Changchun City Urban Sculpture Management Office.

"The organizing committee is busy with collecting sculpture works for the current exhibition," Yang said, adding that 30 works, including 20 created by foreign artists, are scheduled to be displayed at the exhibition.

In addition, a sculpture show displaying works made by young artists and a show of sculpture works for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be held simultaneously during the event, which will last from September to November in 2006.

A total of 341 sculpture works, created by 296 artists in 130 countries and regions have been collected and displayed in previous exhibitions since 1997 at Changchun's International Sculpture Park.
