The grand dance epic Legend landed on stage at the
Great Hall of the People yesterday.
It was the third session curtain-opener of the Beijing
International Dance Performance Season. The Caucasus-themed dance
epic originated in Russia. It features actors in Georgian clothes
displaying passionate dance steps accompanied by appealing
music.
The dancers were great on their feet and were described as
"Athletic Dancers." Their majestic soaring movements, quick
twirling actions and agile steps inspired storms of applause from
audiences.
Some of them even performed without the support of dance shoes.
To add more excitement, four boys skillfully beat tambourines in
quick up and down rhythms. Spectators exclaimed their admiration
again and again over the wonderful performances.
Legend doesn't relate a complete story, but instead is
a concentrated presentation of Georgian group dances. During the
following eight days, dance fans in Beijing have the opportunity to
appreciate several classic dances, including Tchaikovsky,
Russian Hamlet and Don Quixote.
The Performance Season will be concluded with famous Chinese
director Zhang Jigang's drama Wild Jujubes on January
19th. Enditem
