The sixth of The China International Import Expo (CIIE), which lasted from November 5 to 10, has attracted 3,400 exhibitors and 394,000 professional visitors who have registered, from 154 countries, regions and international organizations according to data.


Officials, entrepreneurs and scholars from all over the world focus on the CIIE. Here we list the latest comments from experts and elites, which may help answering the following questions.

What do companies do on the CIIE?


Companies can use the expo to launch new products, re-energize their brands, introduce themselves to the Chinese market and gain an overall understanding of the current dynamics and growth potential of the Chinese market.

Can companies benefit from the CIIE?


We were quite pleased with our achievements from last year's exhibition. And this year we've seen a 50 percent increase in the number of Norwegian seafood companies participating in the expo.

How do people feel about the Chinese market?


It's worth noting that nearly half of the initial launches worldwide, featuring Qualcomm's flagship mobile platforms each year, have been brought to consumers by Chinese smartphone companies. This underscores the significance of the Chinese market and our partnership with Chinese companies for Qualcomm.

Chinese consumers accounted for 26 percent of the company's total sales for the third quarter of this year. Looking ahead, we are expected to increase their international travel and make additional purchases in various countries. This market therefore holds utmost importance for the Paris-headquartered company.

Whether it's the CIIE or the Chinese market, returning to the situation before COVID-19 will be difficult. However, after three years, more foreign businesses have been able to enter this national exhibition freely, which is a good start. We have to continue thinking about the long term. Our farmers is a very long-term thinker. They buy land for years. They plant a crop, and it takes a whole year to grow. For us it's to have this long-term relationship with China.

Selling goods to just a few markets in China is not my priority. I don't look at China that way.

China's economy is still an important engine for world economic growth. Next year, we plan to bring more U.S. companies and products to the expo.

Suggestions and prospects on China's economy.


Despite being weary of external and internal headwinds, however, Chinese consumers are back in full force, but are more discriminate and cost-conscious.

What can consolidate consumption recovery? Watch the labor market. As the headline jobless rate fell to 5 percent in September, wage income increased by almost 7 percent year-to-year in the first three quarters. The question is: Can such employment growth be sustained in the months to come?

Outward foreign investment, which amounted to $160 billion in 2022, is another indicator of China's vital role in the global economy, although it still has a long way to go to catch up with the US. As a matter of fact, among the world's four largest economies, China is in the last position, with Germany and Japan in the second and third.

Humanity needs mature adults in the room, not zealous macho populists with a zero-sum mentality. Let there be no doubt that even if the efforts to contain China do not push the world toward confrontation, the costs of merely trying to contain China would be huge, costs that every country, not least those trying to contain China, would have to bear.
