September 5 General Peng Dehuai of the Chinese People's Volunteer
Army resigns, and Deng Hua assumes the post as commander-in-chief.
During November 1954 to October 1958, Yang Dezhi and Yang
Yong also served as the commander-in-chief and Li Zhimin and
Wang Ping acted as the political commissar of the Chinese
People's Volunteer Army.

February 14 Premier Zhou Enlai visits the DPRK to discuss
withdrawing the Chinese People's Volunteer Army from Korea.
February 19 The Chinese Government and the DPRK government
issue a joint declaration, proposing a voluntary withdrawal
of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army from Korea.
February 20 The Chinese Volunteer Army headquarters issue
a statement responding to the withdrawal proposal, deciding
all People's Volunteer Army will withdraw from Korea by the
end of 1958.
October 24 The DPRK government confers honors and medals
to leaders and heroes of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army.
Prime Minister Kim Il-song holds grand banquet in honor of
the Chinese People's Volunteer Army and to see off the volunteer
army.
October 25 Commander-in-chief Yang Yong waves good-bye to
a crowd of 300,000 Pyongyang residents, thanking them for
their support and care for the volunteer army.
October 26 The headquarters of the Chinese People's Volunteer
Army issues a proclamation, stating that the Chinese People
Volunteer Army had withdrew from Korea completely.
