Beijing Conference Center, featuring a combination of China's traditional
architecture with modern construction technologies, topped the awards
list of Beijing's Ten Best Architecture Design Selection, which
was granted Wednesday.
Other award-winning architectures include Beijing University Science
and Technology Building, Beijing Haidian District Community Center.
Experts said that this year's selection witnessed the emergence
of more buildings featured science and technology, which constituted
the hallmark for the fast-growing high-tech industries and enterprises
in this capital city.
Meanwhile, architects have adopted a much more open attitude in
their design to present the municipality with various construction
styles.
These popular architecture pieces involved many environmental friendly
high-tech building techniques and materials, namely, walls that
can recycle internal air and energy-saving glass.
Beijing's architecture regulation sector has demanded architects
to focus more on the integration of traditional customs of the municipality,
local aesthetic traits and modern trends in their designs.
This year's award selecting process lasted 20 days. It is the seventh
issuing of the award in seven consecutive years.
Some 109 design projects from 48 institutions located in Beijing
have participated in the competition.
