Beijing Rounds off Bidding Report for 2008 Olympics

Beijing has worked out an encyclopaedia-like bidding report, clearing another height in its campaign for the 2008 Olympic Games.

In compliance with the requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the 596-page and three-volume report cover a total of 17 topics such as finance, environmental protection, marketing, sports and competition, Olympic village, traffic and Paralympic Games.

The report is also enclosed with 169 letters of guarantee from such bodies as government ministries and hotels. It also includes all the letters of approval from 28 Summer Olympics sports federations.

It is also made of environment-friendly paper, which is an embodiment of the "Green Olympics" Beijing promotion in its bidding process.

Five candidate cities including Beijing, Paris, Osaka, Toronto and Istanbul, are required to present bidding documents to the IOC before the deadline of January 17.

Each candidate has about four months to prepare the report on which the IOC issued guidelines at Sydney in September.
