Samaranch Confident of Beijing's Success in Olympic Bid
The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Juan Antonio Samaranch expressed his confidence on Thursday that if Beijing wins the 2008 Olympic bid, it will put on a Games as wonderful as the Sydney Olympics.

Samaranch, who has come to Sydney as the guest of the International Paralympic Committee, said that he fully believe the Chinese have the ability to host a successful Games.

"I am sure Beijing can get the Games and they would present a wonderful Games," said Samaranch, "I am sure they will. I do know the Chinese very well."

"But as you know it is not easy. There are five candidates, the final decision will be made in July in Moscow, " he added.

Five cities including Beijing, Paris, Toronto, Osaka and Istanbul have been accepted by the IOC as the official bidders for the 2008 Olympics Games.
